Trans-Saharan Fibre Optic Backbone

An infrastructures programm to facilitate the access of the population to NICTs

Project description

In 2016, the African Development Bank, signed together with Niger an agreement on a 31.4 millions of euros loan coupled with a 12.5 millions of euros donation to be allocated to the trans-Saharian fibre optic backbone of Niger. This broadband pipeline should cross Chad, Algeria and Nigeria to turn ICT into a real growth driver in the region.This project is to be issued by 2020 according to the ADB.
