Project description
Launched in 2018, the Wala app allows users to transfer money for free from cell phone to cell phone. Users can send money via their cryptocurrency mobile wallet, buy phone credit or pay bills. The exchanges are for free and can be done from one country to another. In August 2018, the application received the Zambezi Prize for Financial Inclusion, awarded by the MIT Legatum Center and the Mastercard Foundation at the Open Mic Africa Summit.
