Fauna Conservation

Use of technology to protect species in natural parks

Project description

OI Pejeta is a natural reserve in Kenya. Ol Pejeta started to use technology to prevent the loss of animals. Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Liquid Telecom have deployed a secure high-speed network to connect devices and censors throughout the wildlife conservancy, providing visibility and data on the movements and behaviour of animals. The use of camera will allow to monitor wildlife movement corridos, to test drones and to implement a comprehensive digital radio system. It is believed that technology has the potential to truly transform wildlife conservation across the world as well as Africa, providing a much safer and brighter future for endangered species.
