The deployement of 770 km of fibre optic in Uganda by Facebook and Airtel

Project description

In February 2017, the American firm Facebook signed agreements on a partnership with telephony mobile operator Airtel Uganda to deploy 770km of fibre optic throughout the country as part of the "Free Basics" programm. Once up and running, this fibre optic infrastructure will provide with a backhaul connectivity, covering more than 3 million people in Uganda, also allowing a transnational connectivity with neighbouring countries.
