E-medina

Casablanca and its smart-city project: the E-Medina

Project description

It is within the APEBI - Moroccan federation of information technology, telecommunications and offshoring, that e-Madina was born in June, 2013. This think tank and action focused on smart cities aims at creating and developing a "Smart City" ecosystem in Casablanca, to emerge initiatives of transformation of the city using digital technologies and material and immaterial available resources. The main objective is to solve sectoral problems such as urban transport, housing, access to education, public health, bringing the administration closer to the citizens, optimising municipal management while controlling the costs. This will ultimately improve the quality of life and the comfort of the inhabitants. E-Madina also plans to develop R&D partnerships between universities, engineering schools and companies in order to launch incubators of startups in this field, thereby generating jobs for young people and new innovative opportunities. For 2020, the initiative aims at achieving 150 "smart projects" and 240 research and development projects, as well as the coaching of more than 100 startups.
