Alger Smart city 2035

Optimise the management of Alger thanks to digital tools

Project description

"Algiers, Smart City" is a project launched in the spring of 2017 under the management of the wilaya of Algiers (administrative subdivision bringing together the city of Algiers and its surroundings) with the ambition to optimise urban operational management, to improve the quality of life of its citizens by relying on the use and exploitation of information technologies to manage the city's databases. Algiers Smart City understands the aspects related to data acquisition, data transmission (wireless networks, fiber optic networks ...), data management (storage, cloud, metadata ...), and the optimisation of the city's activities (artificial intelligence, analysis ...), applied to these different components of the smart city. In this perspective, two fablabs were set up in early 2018 in premises located on the heights of Algiers, to provide startups and students with innovative solutions with the machines and tools that will allow them to design and build prototypes to test innovative solutions for mobility, the environment, the local economy and all the pillars of a smart city. In order to explain the objectives and expected benefits thanks to Algiers, the project was presented in May 2018 by the Mayor of Central Algiers, Abdelhakim Bettache, during a meeting on "Smart Cities" organized in London and an international summit entitled "Smart Cities Global Technology & Investment Summit 2018" was organised at the CIC Algiers (International Conference Center Algiers), June 27-28, 2018.
