Guinea announces the launching of its new Internet exchange point in February 2018. This exchange point allows for hastening connections and lessening costs thanks tp the interconnection of diverse access providers that trade web traffic via “peering” mutual agreements. The Internet exchange point of Guinea is part of the regional infrastructures and communications programm for West Africa. It was at the project stage since 2012, funded by the Global Bank up to 3,5 billions of Guinean francs. With this project, Guinea gives its inhabitants the opportunit to make use of the Internet as a development tool.
