M-Farm

SMS in the service of farmers

  • Profil

    Project description

M-Farm allows Kenyan farmers using the application to receive and trade for information via mobile phone on daily variations of the price of cereals on the main Kenyan markets and find buyers for their harvest via the application. The farmer pays a monthly, quarterly, or yearly subscription to use M-Farm. They can also access daily selling prices of 45 fields on the five biggest Kenyan markets via a website. For those not accessing the Internet, the information is also available via SMS. Jamila Abass, Susan Eve Oguya, and Linda Kwamboka, three Kenyan, meet during a hackathon in Nairobi in 2010 and decide to open, the same year, the startup M-Farm, which will develop the eponymous digital platform.
